Our Services

Commercial electrical services and larger domestic projects across the South East

We provide commercial electrical services across the South East, from EICRs and lighting upgrades through to main panels, power distribution and full electrical installations.

We work in offices, schools, academies, colleges, universities, churches, places of worship and industrial buildings. On the domestic side, we focus on full house rewires, major renovations, high-end builds and smart home installations rather than small repairs or general domestic call-outs.

Electrical services across the South East

We are based in Battle, East Sussex, and work across Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey and the wider South East.

A large part of our work is in buildings that are already occupied, so we plan the electrical work around how the site operates. That can mean fitting out an office around a move-in date, carrying out work in schools, academies, colleges and universities around teaching and holidays, or planning an industrial shutdown around production.

We also work in churches and other places of worship, where older buildings, existing fabric and approval requirements can affect how the electrical work is planned.

One electrical contractor for more of the project

Many electrical projects involve more than one type of work.

An EICR may identify a distribution board that needs replacing. A new office fit-out may need power, lighting and data cabling. EV charging may require an upgrade to the existing supply. A rewire may also be the right time to install smart home and network cabling.

Because we cover these services in-house, we can look at the wider electrical installation rather than treating each part as a separate job.

This gives you one team coordinating the work, a clearer record of what has been installed and electrical certification that follows the project through from start to finish.

Inspection, lighting, power and heating

These are some of the services we are asked for most often.

What this covers
01
EICRs, inspection and testing
We carry out EICRs, fixed wire testing and periodic inspection for commercial buildings across the South East. Our reports show what has been inspected, what has been found and what needs attention, with observations explained clearly so you can plan any remedial work. We work in offices, education buildings, churches, industrial sites and other commercial properties, and can plan testing around occupied buildings and normal site use.
02
LED lighting upgrades and energy saving
We carry out commercial LED lighting upgrades for offices, schools, colleges, universities, churches, warehouses and other commercial buildings. We start with a free survey, looking at the existing lighting, light levels and energy use. You then receive a written calculation showing the proposed cost, estimated energy saving and expected payback period. On most commercial sites, the upgrade pays for itself through energy savings within five years.
03
Main panels and power distribution
We design and install main intake panels, LV switchgear and power distribution for larger commercial buildings. Our work includes load assessments, submains, distribution boards, three-phase supplies and DNO supply upgrades where required. We can also plan phased changeovers, temporary supplies and backup generation where parts of the building need to remain powered during the work.
04
Commercial electric heating
We install electric radiant and infrared heating for buildings that are difficult or expensive to heat. This includes radiant heating for sports halls and larger open areas, as well as heated pews for churches. We survey the building first to understand how it is used and whether this type of heating is suitable before we recommend a system.

The larger installation work

Commercial electrical installations

We carry out commercial electrical installations for offices, schools, academies, colleges, universities, churches, industrial sites and other commercial buildings. Our work includes Cat B fit-outs, refurbishments, rewires, lighting, small power, containment, distribution boards and larger power projects. We can manage the electrical work from the initial survey and design through to installation, testing and certification. Where the building needs to remain open, we can phase the work and plan isolations around the way the site is used.

Full house rewires and high-end domestic work

Our domestic work is focused on larger projects rather than small electrical repairs. We carry out full house rewires and high-end domestic installations for larger homes, period properties, major renovations and new builds. We often work alongside architects, builders and designers, planning the electrical installation before first fix so sockets, lighting, data and other electrical requirements are agreed before the walls are finished. We do not generally take on single socket changes, small repairs or general domestic call-outs.

The additional services

These services are often installed as part of a wider electrical project.

Smart home and automation

We design and install the electrical infrastructure for smart homes and lighting control. This includes lighting circuits, control wiring, first-fix cabling, data infrastructure and the electrical work needed for automated blinds, heating and other connected systems. For home cinema, multi-room audio and wider audio visual systems, we work alongside our sister company, OBAV.

Data and networking

We install structured cabling and network infrastructure for commercial buildings and larger homes. Our work includes Cat6 and Cat6a cabling, fibre, comms cabinets, patch panels and cabling for Wi-Fi access points. Where we are also carrying out the electrical installation, we can plan the power, data and containment together from the start.

EV charging

We design and install commercial EV charging for offices, schools, universities, industrial sites, car parks and fleets. Before specifying the chargepoints, we assess the existing electrical supply and available capacity. We can then design the charging and load management around what the site can support, with power distribution or supply upgrades included where required.

The type of electrical work we are set up for

Most of our work is commercial, including testing programmes, office fit-outs, electrical upgrades, power distribution, lighting, heating, data and larger installations.

On the domestic side, we focus on full house rewires, major renovations, high-end builds and smart home projects.

We are not set up as a small domestic call-out service. If you need one socket replaced, a light fitting changed or a minor domestic repair, a local domestic electrician will usually be better placed to help.

If you are planning a larger project, that is where our team is best suited.

Why choose Lake Electrical

From the first survey through to installation and handover, you can speak directly to someone in our team who knows the project. We have a team of experienced engineers and wherever possible you will deal with the same people throughout the work.

We look at the existing installation before larger work is priced and explain what needs doing before the project starts. Where several of our services are needed, we can coordinate them as one electrical project rather than leaving you to manage several different contractors.

Electrical services FAQs

Do you visit before providing a quotation?

Yes, for larger electrical work.

We need to understand the existing installation, available capacity, access and what you are planning before we can give you a reliable scope and price.

Where drawings and specifications are already available, we can use these alongside the site survey.

How do you price electrical work?

We price from the survey, drawings and agreed scope rather than using a standard rate for every project.

The quotation sets out what is included and, where something needs to be priced separately, we show this clearly.

This means you can see the electrical scope before work is agreed.

Do you work for main contractors and respond to tenders?

Yes.

We work directly for clients as well as main contractors, consultants, architects and other project teams.

We are used to working from drawings, specifications, tender documents and fixed programmes, including commercial, education and public-facing projects.

Do you carry out maintenance as well as installations?

Yes, where it forms part of the commercial electrical work we provide.

This can include remedial work, alterations, upgrades, repeat testing and work on installations we have previously completed.

We are not set up as a general small domestic call-out or maintenance service.
